Welcome to the High Energy Physics Laboratory. Through particle physics experiments, mainly using accelerators, the High Energy Physics Laboratory conducts research toward uncovering "the fundamental laws that govern matter." Our graduate school division is "Particle Physics."
What is high energy physics?

Neutrino Group

Through neutrinos, we aim to understand the origin of the masses of elementary particles and the violation of the symmetry between particles and antiparticles. We study neutrino oscillations using J-PARC and Super-Kamiokande, and develop detectors for the future, such as Hyper-Kamiokande and searches for neutrinoless double beta decay. Neutrino

ATLAS Experiment Group

The LHC-ATLAS is the world's highest energy collider experiment using the LHC accelerator at CERN in Geneva Switzerland. Out amgition is to discover new physics phenomena such as production of supersymmetric particles or dark matter, as well as explore the laws of physics in depth in a way no one has anticipated.

CMB Experiment Group

From a precise measurement on the polarization of the cosmic microwave background (CMB)--the afterglow of the Big Bang--we aim to reveal the laws of physics that governed the creation of the universe. Spinning of the CMB experiment, we also host a dark matter search experiment (DOSUE-RR) that applies the similar technologies.
